2013 Summary of Property Tax related Legislation

The Personal Property Team within the Property Tax Division develops depreciation schedules used by assessors in the valuation of personal property. They conduct audits of personal property accounts in cooperation with county assessors statewide.

The Centrally Assessed Team within the Property Tax Division values all mines, utilities and railroad property that operate as a unit. Values are set and apportioned to taxing entities based on situs of property. The local County Treasurer bills and collects the tax.

The Real Property Team within the Property Tax Division assists Counties with property appraisal training, provides general oversight, monitors compliance and sets FAA taxable values.
